Bio

Background: E. Sterling Jarrett, PsyD, is a Greenville native who received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Wofford College and her doctorate in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Washington, D.C., Campus. She completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship within the Division of Pediatric Psychology at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. After fellowship, she accepted a faculty position at Mt. Washington and was the attending psychologist in several multidisciplinary clinics. Through this experience, she developed expertise working with children, adolescents, young adults and families presenting with a range of conditions in several clinical settings, including pediatric complex primary care, specialty medical outpatient clinics (e.g., endocrinology, gender diverse, pulmonology, burn/wound, pain), rehabilitation hospitals and in acute inpatient settings. Dr. Jarrett also has extensive experience supervising trainees across different training levels and conducting psychoeducational assessments on children and adolescents.

At Prisma, Dr. Jarrett belongs to the pediatric pain management team and works on the hospital’s pediatric supportive/palliative care team. Her goal is to offer emotional support to children and families during treatment, while also providing psychoeducation about new or already existing conditions. She uses evidence-based interventions to increase patients’ coping skills, assist with symptom management, improve overall functioning and adjust to living with complex or chronic medical conditions during childhood and adolescence. Dr. Jarrett broadly specializes in cognitive behavioral therapies and family systems for a range of presenting concerns, with special interests in the treatment of comorbid mental and physical health conditions, chronic pain, anxiety disorders and depressive disorders. Additionally, she enjoys guiding individuals through challenges associated with creating positive behavioral changes and healthy habits (e.g., sleep hygiene, treatment adherence).

In her spare time, Dr. Jarrett enjoys trying new recipes, taking her dog on walks, and hanging out with her family and friends.
